I was accepted for the summber b term for 2011-2012. If anyone started in the summer, what was the experience like?

im a junior at uf. anything in particular you are interested in? like dorms or something?

basically everything such as the residential and student activities. Evn though I know people who’ve gone there years ago I want to know from a current student’s perspective. also is there much to do in gainesville?

summer classes are normally all week long, mtwrf. there is always stuff going around campus and the dorms. however, not everything is always entertaining, at least not for me.

for a freshman, most of the summer classes are pretty easy. with a few hours of studying a week, you’ll get atleast a b.
as far as things to do in gainesville, it depends on what you like to do.
if partying is your thing, or just hanging out with a lot of people, look no further. You will find people at the clubs every night, parties in midtown and at the apartment complexes, and many of the frat houses have themed parties that are open to anyone. During the day, a lot of people go to the gym and lay out on the fields.
if partying isnt necessarily your thing, there are tons of clubs that run throughout the summer and uf is a great place to begin research.

If you are accepted during summer B, do you sign up for your classes for both summer B and fall during the orientation? If not, then when do you sign up for fall?

I have no idea…I’ll ask

You will sign up for Summer and Fall classes at the same time.

But what will I do as it pertains to ap scores, which aren’t released until July?

You will estimate your results and register based on that. Then you will have plenty of time to change the schedule many times before Fall semester begins. In fact, you may totally change your schedule after Preview to something completely different as different classes become available.

Plan your summer classes around those AP scores that are pending. In other words, take things you absolutely need to take even if you pass your AP tests.

Thanks very much for the info!

What summer classes do you recommend for a Pre-Med major?

for a pre-med student I would highly recommend taking Stat 1 and Pre-Calc or Intro to Chem if you need to take those. You will not have to take them if you pass your Calculus and Chemistry readiness exams; so make sure you do that. If you DID pass those readiness exams (good for you!) and have signed up for Chem 1 and/or Calc 1 in the fall… then take Gen Psych with Stat 1.

I remember that at my Preview they acted like those online exams were not that important and it was okay if you failed them. I didn’t consider this and did what I had to do to pass them; even googled some of the questions from the chem exam to get them right. You DO NOT want to take either Pre-Calc or Intro to Chem if you do not have to. They are miserable wastes of time and money classes.

Anyway, taking Stat 1 and Gen Psych 1 would make for a nice summer session.

wait there are online exams you can take where you can google the answers?

not exams per say… the online readiness assessments for CALCULUS and CHEMISTRY.

Log into ISIS and look in the column on the left

I took them 3 years ago… then I DID in fact google the answers. I do not know about now, however

when can I take the readiness assessment exams?

I wanted to know what is the easiest class to take during summer b for the “S” social general ed. Can someone please list 3 or 4 of them.
By easy, I mean the concepts and the amount of studying time needed to an A.
