What to expect: first day of class

Can anyone tell me what to expect the first day of class?
It will be mine in a week :D

For big gen eds, expect a large auditorium that might be filled past capacity. Try to get early to any class with 100+ students.

For smaller classes, it’ll be chill. Take initiative to talk to people and get to know them.

Most importantly, go to as many events as you can your first week. Classes will be easy for now and you’ll have a ton of free time. Use that free time to meet new friends and find clubs you like (we have like, 200 clubs at UCF).

Always remember to enjoy your life

Be prepared for complete lack of seats the first week of classes. Often, people will attend a class that is full, with the hopes of adding it on after somebody drops it (which has to be done by Thursday of the first week, to avoid getting charged for the class). This creates a situation where there are too many bodies and too few chairs.

I’d show up at least 5 minutes early to be sure you get a seat.

I usually show up 10 minutes before class time. The first week or two, you will have to go early to get a seat, but you’ll see the number of students decreasing as the weeks pass by. People just stop coming if attendance isn’t mandatory, and this usually applies to the larger auditorium classes.

Also, there will be a ton of events and free stuff around campus, so be on the lookout for that as well. If you want a super quiet area to study and have no distractions, go to the library, third (or was it fourth?) floor and study.

Enjoy your first year!
