What to Gift Teachers?

I recently gave a final list of colleges to the teachers I asked to send college recommendations letters. I plan to submit the last of my applications this weekend. My school has holiday breaking started this coming Friday and I would like to give these two teachers a thank you gift but I'm not sure what to get them.

I will definitely give each a thank-you note but what else? Are chocolates okay?

Depends on what your teachers like. A lot of times, lotion is a good gift to give to female teachers around this time of year because the cold weather wrecks skin.

Oh, that’s true!

Well, one is male and the other is female. The latter teaches psychology and the former, science. You actually gave me an idea on what to get the science teacher though…

Any other suggestions?

i gave my teachers boxes of 15 ferrero rocher chocolates lol

That’s what I was thinking. Any other ideas though?

Starbucks gift card. Teachers NEED coffee to deal with us at 7 in the morning.

Agreed. Starbucks is always a safe bet. I got each of my two recommenders a nice gift set of Starbucks hot chocolate and a cute mug. They were only $8 each at Walmart! Try hitting up Walmart/Target/TJ Maxx, some of those stores, they have really inexpensive gift sets, especially around this time of year.

don’t. you will become a teachers pet…

@Voberaptor, Don’t what? Give them a gift to thank them for writing me a college recommendation letter? Wouldn’t it be rude and disrespectful not to?

@saman42, good idea! :)

@CollegeChica12, Oh! That set sounds really nice!! And they could probably really use it. :)

Or, should I wait until I hear back from colleges?

I think it’s better to do it now but I know some people wait…

Also, I still have one of the teachers (psychology) in a class this year and I don’t want to seem like I’m trying to bribe her for a higher grade or something (even though I have an A).

Definitely give them gifts. Teacher’s pet? Really? Is this 6th grade?

It would be rude not to get them something. Don’t worry about looking like a teacher’s pet, I guarantee you no one’s going to look at it like that.

And don’t worry about the teacher looking at it as a bribe. It’s common courtesy to get your teacher a gift if they write you a recommendation.

@saman42, Okay, thank you for your encouragement! :D
