What kinds of things do you think are NOT worth mentioning on college applications?

Would it be silly to mention things like the paper route you've had for 6+ years?
Participation in religious activities such as church choir?
What about listing one-time only deals like participating in a community garbage cleanup, or the time you were a substitute teacher at a parochial elementery school?
Would it be a good idea to tell about the translation work you did on a few short pieces of religious literature at the request of a church leader in another country?

When deciding which ECs to list one which to leave out, first decide whether you want to stick to the space on the app or submit an extra resume.

I would definitely mention things like the paper route (as work experience) and the church choir if space permits. How time-intensive were your "one-time deals"? Were you a sub for two hours or for a whole week?

I think that I listed only those activities on my app that I were involved in for at least 60 hours. You don't want your EC list to look too random.

Thanks for your reply b@r!um.
I taught a pond life study for a couple hours to elementery school kids. I was also a sub for both a middle school French class, and a Level 1 French high school class for one day at a parochial K-12 school.

Substitute teaching could make an interesting essay topic. Was it an interesting experience?

Sly Si, now that you mention it, it would be a good topic idea!
It was an interesting experience, and I was very was uneasy about at first, but in the end I really did learn some things from it.

Well, I'm leaving out activities in which I wasn't a leader. For example, I've been in FEA for 3 years and participated in the club activities but since I'm not an officer, I'm not putting it on my app.
But I might be unique, cuz in four other clubs and two other organizations I am an officer
