Okay, to carry on from a post below...once you know what you are packing, how on earth do you get it all in? Boxes, bins, bags...what's the best bet for getting all the stuff where it needs to go? I have heard that the "Frosh O" people help you, but I am sure they don't want to be hauling small bags over and over! Help!

Are you flying or driving? It really depends. If you are flying, obviously luggages. If you are driving, whatever you can transport it in. Boxes, bins, bags, etc.

If you are flying you are obviousily limited by how much your luggage can hold. If you are flying you need to make sure each piece of baggage is under 50 lbs. If it is higher, you will need to pay $50 to get the bag on the plane. A necessity for anyone flying are space bags. They can be purchased at Costco (maybe Sam's Club) and can maximize packing space by well over 50%. They are simply vacuum sealable bags that shrink when air is evacuated from within the bag. So transporting large comforters, blankets, and jackets is made easier. I highly recommend them for anyone flying.

For the record, most Frosh-O staff gladly haul small bags and boxes. However, if you want to make their life easier, invest in a few bins or milk cartons. Not only do they help in the move in procedure, but they can also be utilized during the year for in room storage. Many dorms also have large plastic or canvas carts that you can use to move things into the dorm. When you arrive, ask for one of these to make your life easier. They can hold quite a few standard sized boxes.

Both last year and this year I've used a few of those 66 quart rubbermaid bins, which work pretty well and stack nicely in the back of an SUV.

I had no idea that the staff would help with freshman move-in. Imagine my surprise when I got my key, walked back outside, and found the parents car going to park elsewhere and all of my stuff outside my room.

For two years now I've brought my own move in crew with me :). I have 4 friends who all go to quarter schools and don't start for another month.
