what to pack?

if you are flying into nyu what should you pack? ppl have told me to buy as much as i could there...like bedding and whatnot. so does that mean just pack basically clothes and computer?

Actually, it is very expensive to shop in NYC. Plus you cannot shop around for good prices, colors, whatnot. I would buy sheets, pillow, comforter, lamp, winter coat, boots, etc. online, from a store that is offering free shipping and have it shipped to your NYU address, once you have it.

shopping in nyc isnt that expensive, whether you go to macys or bloomingdales in nyc or in the middle of nowhere the prices are going to be the same

You'll need your bedding the first night you're there so shipping it won't work. There's a K-Mart, Macy's, etc. close by that you can get to but I'm not sure you want to do that on your first day at NYU. That day is very hectic and stressful so make it as easy as you can.

In my freshmen year I bought all my important stuff (like bedding, shower stuff etc.) online from Target (Amazon, Bed, Bath & Beyond, they're good too). I was lucky enough to have it delivered to my sister in the States so I had it when I arrived. Maybe, if you don't have enough space when you're flying over, you could ship it straight to NYU and pick it up as soon as you arrive. I'd call up and ask. When you're buying so much stuff it's much cheaper and easier to do it online . Good luck!

a stun gun might come in handy once in a while in nyc ;-)

umm i dont think i will have room to bring a lamp. lol. but ok so clothes and bedding are basically the essentials right?
