Well, my High School has grades 8-12 rather than the traditional 9-12. Should I put down what day I actually entered it (8th grade) or should I put down the day I started 9th grade?

I would guess 9th, since it's asking you the day you started HS .. not the day you began at the school you're at.

i.e., if you went to a K - 12 school, you wouldn't put down the day you started K.

The day you started 9th.

Do you actually remember the exact date you started 9th grade? I think this is one of the sillier bits of info. asked for on the Common App., as my son is hard-pressed enough to recall the month - let alone the day - he began high school.

I know the month. Not the day, but the month.

Just put the general date. Like if you usually start the 2nd week of August, just put down the 12th or something. I suppose it might be a good idea to check an old calendar online or something to make sure it isn't a Sunday, if you're really concerned about it.
