what to say if...

<p>your interviewer asks you what your weaknesses are?</p>

<p>i admire people that can think up the best responses in 1/3 secc.</p>

<p>=(</p>

<p>i would say...i'm not mathematically minded, i'm too much of a worrywart/perfectionist, i'm pessimistic (glass half empty), i'm impatient. </p>

<p>i'd probably sugarcoat it a bit. the only interview i had, they didn't ask that question, though. that would be pretty mean...</p>

<p>just be honest w/ out seeming like a martyr or lazy/rude/etc. i guess be moderate. </p>

<p>but has anyone heard of them actually asking that question? where?</p>

<p>My speech teacher taught me how to spin this question. Make your weakness a positive attribute.</p>

<p>For example: "I am a perfectionist most of the time. I want my job to be done the best I can do it. It can be very time consuming but I always end up proud of what I've done."</p>

<p>Yes, being a perfectionist will do the trick... however, now that everyone knows, I wonder whether will it sound not sincere...</p>

<p>Just tell him that not having a weakness is in itself a weakness...i'm sure that'lll go well. ;)</p>

Yeah, all you have to do is not say what Bush said, and you'll be all set.</p>

<p>Bush said that?!?!</p>

<p>my cousin used to interview people for MIT and he said he always asked that :&lt;/p>

<p>This is from a prime time press conference. It's definitely a good lesson on what not to say.

After 9/11, what would your biggest mistake be, would you say, and what lessons have you learned from it?

Answer:

I wish you would have given me this written question ahead of time, so I could plan for it. (Laughter.) John, I'm sure historians will look back and say, gosh, he could have done it better this way, or that way. You know, I just -- I'm sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with an answer, but it hadn't yet.

I hope I -- I don't want to sound like I've made no mistakes. I'm confident I have. I just haven't -- you just put me under the spot here, and maybe I'm not as quick on my feet as I should be in coming up with one.
