What to see/eat when visiting!!

I'm catching a "before dawn omg i have had no sleep!!!" flight tomorrow to visit UCLA and I'm wondering if there are specific things I need to do/see and food places I need to try while there. thanks guys!

eat at benihana!! yummmm

benihana (a japanese restaurant) is a definate if there is one near UCLA. Also check out some of the stores and hang outs near UCLA and surrounding areas (you will probably be going all over the place on weekends, us LA ppl are nuts lol)

diddy riese!

mmm cookies ^

Benihana can be passed on. It's a chain with plenty of locations.

If you want some tasty Japanese-style food, try Tengu.

Diddy Riese is a must eat. I also recommend a trip to Third Street Promenade and maybe the Santa Monica Pier if you have time. On-campus, there's the neat little botanical garden (by the dental school).

If you enjoy European art, check out the Getty. If East Asia is your thing, check out the Fowler Museum (it's on-campus.)

For a fun day of window shopping, there's always Rodeo Drive (a short 15 minute drive on a good day.) Want to catch the symphony? Go to the Hollywood Bowl (I think they've started...) Or there's the Disney Music Hall in downtown.

And if you have time, go see a Dodger's game. :)

Go to Venice Beach, Santa Monica for nightlife.

In N Out

Trust me.

In-N-Out, if you haven't already...
I've also heard good reviews for Tengu if you can afford it.

benihana... pass. its generic and everywhere. and the closest one to UCLA is the promenade in santa monica.

you gotta go to diddy reese and BJ's in westwood which are very popular among ucla students for quick fastish food yum

isnt BJ's everywhere too?

Yep. Pass on BJ's.

ok.. but Bj's is actually a block from UCLA while the nearest benihanas is 15 mins. ^do you recommend gypsy????

Gypsy...hmm...

Food's okay, but the real draw is the hookah. I would personally (your mileage may vary) only go for the hookah and to sit and eat with friends while hookahing it up.

Why the ? If you want good food like what Gypsy serves, there are plenty of much tastier restaurants in LA.

Sorry, but I thought "hookah" sounded a little strange. :p

Umm... okay. Before you go off rolling your eyes at me, try finding out what a hookah is. ;)

Wow. I learned something new today! (Hookah = bong + tobacco)

hookah is pretty famous in South East Asia especially in india and pakistan. Normally you will find at least one in each village house. Its alternative to cigarettes pipes etc and is regarded as a symbol of simple village life in indian sub continental culture.
