hi, i'm a junior in high school right now and am living in japan. i will be taking the january SAT, and have decided to send my scores to a few school, after browsing threads on this site. anyway, i was wondering if there is a rule or norm about what you have to submit first; something like a common application, before starting to send scores. i have not contacted the university directly in anyway yet. Is it okay to just send my scores without any notice? thank you in advance.

Generally colleges will not create files for international applicants until they have submitted their Common App (sometimes a supplement as well) or whatever application they are using. If you haven’t done all your testing (do you have subject tests to go), then there’s no point in sending your scores this early as you’ll have to send them again later with the subject tests, and the score reports show all scores (unless you use score choice).
