What to use TI-84 for in Math II?

Hey guys, I'm noticing that I don't really use anything fancy on my TI-84 when I'm taking the practice tests. Considering most people say your calculator is life or death, I would like to know if anybody knows in general what types of problems I should be using it for, and if there are any standard apps in it that can make other problems quicker as well.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Not really… Trying to familiar yourself with some of the more advanced apps may be harder than it seems. Anyway, I just used the scientific calculator functions of the TI-84 and the graphing function (to find intercepts, zeros, max/min, etc). The only case I can possibly perceive where a calculator is the difference between life and death would be having a basic/scientific calculator versus a graphing calculator. Graphing calculators make it that much easier to find answers without graphing and for solving systems of equations (if you understand the matrix function… if not, you’ll have to use the graphing function for this too).

Not many problems on Math II require the use of a calculator. I used my NSpire when I took Math II and all I remember were a few problems involving ln or trig functions, and one linear regression (all of which can be done on the TI-84).

The Barron’s book for Math II teaches you how to do many problems on the calculator.
