What to wear for a college visit/tour????

I'm visiting three local colleges this week and I will take a tour of each one. What type of attire does one usually wear to these shindigs???? Are jeans acceptable??? Is a suit too much???

lol just wear comfortable clothing

Comfortable shoes. Take a folding umbrella/poncho. Warm clothing if the schools are in the north.

Whatever you’d wear to school.

Yeah- based on tours of campuses we saw in the NE, a suit is too much. Wear what you like and feel comfortable. Sometimes D wore a skirt, sometimes jeans, sometimes a casual dress. Just nothing too revealing, torn, dirty etc. and comfortable walking shoes are a must. (Extra points if they are cute.)

I got progressively less formal with each visit. Just wear decent clothes and you’ll be fine, they don’t need to be dressy.

Thank you everyone!!! :)

What a strange question lol.
Wehn i visited in the summer: plain white T, plain blue jeans, plain converse. LOLz

“comfortable walking shoes are a must. (Extra points if they are cute.)”

If you find any of these please share with the rest of us:)

I agree with the above: neat, clean, comfortable clothing. I’d stay away from t-shirts or sweatshirt from another college as well.

I am surprised by the number of people wearing shirts, sweaters, or hats from rival colleges or those with similar applicant pools. I mean, really?

I always prefer to go in my tuxedo and top hat. The prestige of the school determines whether or not I take my cane.

If you are combining the visit with an interview I would make sure you are more presentable but I still think casual clothes are fine. Jeans are fine for the typical info session and walking tour.

A suit is much too much! They’re not going to look at you and say “He wore jeans. Write down his name, hes not getting in”. I generally wear a polo (sometimes the color of the school, ie. wore an orange one to Syracuse), jeans, and a casual jacket. Definitely check the weather to see if you’ll need an umbrella though, after visiting Villanova I’ll never forget that.

Yeah and I agree that wearing other college clothes to a tour is just bad taste. I joked about wearing my BC hat to Villanova to my dad, but thats as far as I’d take that.
