What to wear for an on campus job interview?

I have an interview for an office assistant type job this week with the schools chemistry department, and I was wondering what to wear. I'm thinking of going business casual, as I don't really feel jeans would be appropriate.

I think you're on the right track there. You should look capable and professional. Jeans, unless they're nice dark jeans, aren't good enough. Because it's not a 9-5 type job, a suit would be too much. Nice pants (or a skirt if you're a girl and prefer) and either a button-down or nice, ironed shirt (most things besides a basic T-shirt work).

Good advice from Lumine. And remember, no cleavage & no flip flops.

Slacks, long sleeve buttondown shirt and a tie should be good. No matter what job you are interviewing for, those three should be the standard minimum

Business casual (no jeans, slacks or corduroy pants will work). Look collegiate.

Oh yeah, fauve made an important point. In terms of the amount of skin showing, you should be pretty conservative.

Yeah, I'm a guy, so showing skin wouldn't be the best option...for this position at least. =)

Thanks for the advice guys!

always dress up not down..
