What to wear on re-visit day?

<p>yea, same w/ karenasaurus.</p>

<p>Karen is using the word Ghetto as a verb.
its really a noun that had derived into a verb.</p>

<p>Its a yiddish term for where al the Jews were placed in towns in E. Europe. Sthettle or something like that. Personally its offensive if used in a negative context.</p>

<p>Lots of words have evolved like that, its a shame when people dont know where they really come from. Not saying anything bad about you guys, its more historical.</p>

<p>The Best Deconstruction Comedies:
Hippies - ‘Up in Smoke’ Cheech & Chong
Disco - ‘A Night at the Roxbury’ Will Ferrell
Head Bangers/Grunge - ‘Wayne’s World’ Penelope Spheeris
Hip Hoppers - ?</p>

<p>Letseee
“Ghetto” people at my school are stereotyped as having random nicknames/ghetto names, little kid backpacks/backpacks made out of cereal boxes, usually nappy hair, obnoxious attitudes, ghetto slang/ebonics, an obsession with hot cheetos, gatorade, kool-aid, fried chicken…stuff like that. But they give my school character hahah:)
But then there isn’t really a fine line between “gangstah” and “ghetto”, because at my school, they’re usually both. </p>

<p>Just to clarify things up.
That was not intended to be RACIST or PREJUDICED at all, so don’t take it the wrong way. It was an honest description pahah:P</p>

<p>^^ You would have been better off just not saying that.</p>

<p>I can’t believe karenasaurus actually wrote that…
like was it really all that necessary?</p>

<p>Karen…i know you weren’t trying to be racist, but it still came off that way and was totally unnecessary</p>

<p>Ahhhhhhhhhhhh</p>

<p>Okay okayyy, TO CLARIFY;
someone was confused about one my earlier post, and I was just telling you my definition from my personal experience. </p>

<p>It wasn’t something I did out of the blue,
I was trying to explain where my post was coming from.</p>

<p>I’m really sorry if you guys thought that was racist, but honestly, it was to clarify/explain my post, and that was my only intention.</p>

<p>Ahhhhhhh
Pleaseeee don’t take my posts the wrong way.
Sorrryysorrysorry
Bahah I’m pretty sure I have 4 haters on CC now
I’ll delete it D:</p>

<p>I can’t delete it :|</p>

<p>omg…you guys are giving karenasaurus a really hard time!
i’m pretty sure you guys sort of overreacted
it’s not like she was trying to be racist, and yeah she was explaining that post, so it wasn’t unnecessary
can’t we all take a little humor?
and i can totally relate, because my school’s sort of ghetto too lol</p>

<p>why is it that on CC people are always so quick to judge? you completely take her statements the wrong way, or out of context, and try to make her out as a racist. you could be in the media someday.</p>

<p>Specifically, the left wing liberal media. I don’t think the right or moderates would try to make a big deal out of what you said.
Karen this should be a good lesson for you. Everything you say at a NE Prep School can and will be twisted and turned out of context if possible, by folks who are very, very concerned that their school is PC. It can and does get way over the top, but it is their “ivory tower” and they can do as they wish. Their particular version of PC will vary from school to school.
Here is an article with a different point of view from Heather Mac Donald </p>

<p>[The</a> Prep-School PC Plague by Heather Mac Donald, City Journal Spring 2002](<a href=“http://www.city-journal.org/html/12_2_the_prep.html]The”>http://www.city-journal.org/html/12_2_the_prep.html)</p>

<p>that article was interesting. Are schools really so determined to make their schools non-racist that they actually divide the student body?</p>

<p>a little random, but i had an <em>IDEA</em>
bring 3 or 4 outfits in your car. Drive around campus for a bit to see what eceryone else is wearing, then change in the car!</p>

<p>very good idea. I’m going to Lakeville tommorow. That’ll be fun… four and a half hour drives are always enjoyable ;).</p>

<p>I’m wearing coat, jacket, and tie, but that’s the dress code. Andover, Middlesex, and Groton willbe harder t predict. I’m definitely dressing formally for Exeter.</p>

<p>Thank you, Izzy Busy Bee & abbydoo:)
Yall’s posts itself made me feel loooads better.
I honestly was intending NOTHING bad, and I was trying to make a joke out of my statement. Like at my school, the “ghetto” people even make jokes about themselves, so it’s not uncommon or racist or mean. I guess you’d have to go to my school to truly understand. I live kind of in a “ghetto” city, and it’s reflected in my school, but people have come to understand and look at the bright side of things :expressionless:
But I guess some people twisted the meaning into something it was not meant to be.
SOOOOoooo
I apologize, again, and I just hope that some of you guys can stop being so quick to judge, and immediately assume I’m the “bad guy” of this whole thing.
Seriously, racist is the last thing I am:)
I mean, I make cheesy jokes about being Asian all the time, but that does not make me automatically racist. </p>

<p>& looool
changing in the car…I didn’t have a good experience with that when I was little, so now I’m paranoid v.v</p>

<p>See personally as an African-American hearing about how the people at your so called “ghetto” school like kool-aid, fried chicken and what not rubbed me the wrong way.</p>

<p>But anywhoo back to revisit outfits…</p>

<p>I know what I am wearing to Milton/Andover (if I convince my parents to go)…</p>

<p>Head:Top Hat
Neck:Bowtie
Tailcoat
Cotton shirt under
Low cut waistcoat
Black stockings
Cane in hand</p>

<p>For Exeter I will be more normal…
A sport-coat
light blue shirt underneath
Slightly formal pants
penny loafers.</p>

<p>You will look like a ■■■■■■…especially with a top hat. And if SPS is supposedly one of your top “choices” why aren’t you at least trying to go to the revisit?</p>

<p>Ohh, I just listed the schools I did as dress code guideposts.</p>

<p>Oh ok cool.</p>
