What to wear over a TNF Denali for winter?

So im going to college in upstate NY, the cold really doesn’t bother me. However, I have a North Face Denali hoodie and a couple of those fleece hoodies with sherpa lining that i will mostly be using. I know its not going to be warm enough for sub zero so i thought of adding either down or primaloft but dont know if i should be hooded, jacket, or a vest? Or do i skip this idea and go with one of the Windwall jackets and save the Denali/sherpa hoodies for 20 degree plus days? I know im just walking building to building or is it overkill to even bother with another jacket on top of the Denali with another jacket underneath? I have found both down/primaloft but would down be the better choice over primaloft?

add a lightweight down jacket under the Denali.
Something like these from Uniqlo

Why under it and not over it? Thanks for the link btw.

cause the Denali is really bulky- these are thin and light and will keep you comfortable , when you take the Denali off, in cool weather when worn alone and keep you toasty when worn under the Denali.

Got it, thanks!

my pleasure!

[ DS has both, so I’m familiar with how both fit ]

Am I correct to assume “Denali” is a sort of fuzzy fleece jacket? I know summit series is a line, but I think denali refers to one specific item.

If so, you should be aware upstate NY is FRIGID. You’ll need something heavier, like a down jacket. It’s all fun and games to play Elsa, but when the humid cold hits things are not so fun.

Didn’t see the last post, to be honest i dont know how people wear them in that weather. Looking at Patagonia Retro X or a R4 now for winter instead of using the Denali for winter. Ill save it for the milder days. And yes its the Denali jacket, the one everyone wears. I have looked at Summit series so i am still keeping my eye open.
