What to Wear to College Forums and Info Sessions

Vanderbilt is coming to New Orleans to do an admissions information session. Should I wear something nice or just normal clothes? Also, do I need to dress up for information sessions at the colleges I visit?

When I first read the title I thought "we need to wear something special for CC?"

Nah, just wear normal clothing. Don't overdress or people will think you're weird.

Just making sure. When you say people will think you're weird, does that include the admissions officers?

If you're just sitting in a chair in a big auditorium, nobody will be able to notice.

If you plan on going to chat with the admissions officer afterwards (you should), wear something that's not disgusting.

If you could wear it to the average public high school and look acceptable to good, it's fine. I would not go below or too far above the average day in school look.

Just wear like jeans and a polo if yer a dude and idk if yer a chick.

Not too sloppy, not too dressy. You don't want to wear anything too uncomfortable for the tours and info sessions at the colleges because you will probably be walking around the campus.

If you are being interviewed while on campus, then I would go a little bit better than the average day at school (public school, anyway). I think you want to look like you care if you make a good impression, but that doesn't mean you have to wear a tie (male) or heels (female).

BTW, in case you are one of those who thinks students at Vanderbilt get dressed up for classes or to hang around campus, they don't. Be normal.

This past summer, most of the young men have worn Khaki-type pants with "golf" type shirts (collars, not T-shirts, no "sayings"); the young ladies have also worn either khakis or skirts with plain tops. One kid at Notre Dame wore shorts, flip-flops, and a tank top. First off, he got REALLY sunburned during the tour, and his flip-flops broke, so he was fairly miserable. So, maybe I would suggest shoes, not flip-flops.

No one at any tour we have been on has worn a tie or business-type attire.
