Sorry if this is a stupid question I’m just kinda stressing. I’ve been on tours and stuff but I’ve never been to an open house before. I’m not getting interviewed, but I don’t want to stand out or be too overdressed/underdressed. What would be a good outfit to wear for a girl? (The open house is Tufts engineering.)
Wear something that fits well and is middle of the road as far as formality. Something you feel good in. You will be great!
I would err on the safe side and wear a nice (but not too dressy) skirt or dress.
Have taken my kids to numerous open houses, some for engineering. Most frequent outfit I saw for girls was dark wash jeans, boots, and a sweater (with maybe a scarf or a cute jacket on top). If you are touring engineering facilities, you will be walking around labs and places that may not be super clean so recommend not overdressing. I will also note that even though you will probably get a name tag to wear, you will not be much more “visible” than at a regular tour, so don’t stress this.
