I have an interview in two days with an alumni and I was wondering what to wear. My parents suggested shirt and tie, but I was wondering if that was too dressed up or not. And I have a scholarship competition at Rollins with interviews and other events and was wondering what kind of clothes would be good to wear there. I am male. Thanks!

"shirt and tie"..."i am male" =p sorry just had to point that out. anywho, i think a lot depends on what year the alumnus graduated. if he's class of 70 or earlier, i think a nice shirt and tie is fine. but if he's any younger, a dress shirt and nice slacks would be good...as long as it's somewhere casual, like his house or a cafe.

for the scholarship competition, i'd say definitely do shirt and tie for the interviews there. don't have your clothes make you stand out, for being too dressy or too casual. let your personality/life do the talking.

good luck!

For my ED Princeton interview, I wore "country-club attire"; an Abercrombie & Fitch button-up shirt , dressy khakis, and dark Diesel shoes. I found my outfit to be very appropriate; smart, but casual (lol, "Casual Luxury"...)

And in general, PLEASE don't "pop" your collar for an ivy interview.

diehldun - agreed... you can "pop" your collar once your in and on campus... not for an interview.

i wore a tweed blazer, button down, tie, and slacks

Dude, I wore an Adidas knit-cap and soccer training wear, semi-punky belt, and jeans, with Puma sneakers to the interview...as long as it's any more formal than that it should be fine.. LOL

First word that came to my mind after seeing the title of this thread was "Nothing":)

Haha, I told one of my friends who was asking me for advice for a Yale interview that she can't really blow it unless she takes off her clothes during the middle of the interview.
