What to when accepted?

I have already been accepted to a grad program but the letter says they need to know if I will be attending my mid April. I will also be visiting them in February to meet with professors. I am just curious, is it customary to contact the department at all before I am ready to make my decision? Should I say "thank you" or let them know that it will be awhile before I make my decision? Does it really matter at all since I will be visiting them in a few months?

Thanks

Send an email thanking them and expressing enthusiasm for your visit in February. Common courtesy.

begin contacting professors whose laboratories you find interesting and get to know their work. Visit them if you can.

Choosing which grad school to attend is the hardest part of the admissions process.
