What to write about in supplement essays?

My counselor apparently adores me and wrote about a lot of my travel and academic experiences. But the thing is, I have a lot of freedom to write about anything in my supplements, but I think elaborating on them is very easy and shows a lot about me, as my counselor only devoted one paragraph to it. But the thing is, should I write about other stuff to "round out" my application, or can I risk touching on the same subject, but only this time through my perspective?

You can certainly address the same subject that is in a rec. Most people don’t see their recs and have no idea whether the subjects overlap.
