Since the essay prompts are staying the same for next year I figured I would get a head start on my essays. I have three possible things to write about, but I don't know what would be the best/ most meaningful.
Option 1: My dad is in the military, so I started elementary school (kindergarten thru 2nd grade) in England. I would probably approach it from like a first day of school angle, talking about how different it was, and how I felt like I knew no one. I could talk about different culture, how it taught me to be outgoing, and how it made me value my family.
Option 2: I had ACL surgery... tore it playing field hockey, but it kept me from dancing (my true passion)- taught me that I was more then what people thought of me as (a dancer) and how it allowed me to expand my horizons and become more involved in school
Option 3: what dance means to me, I've danced since I was 4 and it plays a large role in my life (I was dancing around 10 hours a week before I tore my ACL). I would talk about how I feel at home on stage and how it has allowed me to be more confident, given me a second family and home, and how it has taught me life skills like dedication and perseverance.

Any input or other suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

How about combining Option 2 and 3? One of the goals of the essay is to reveal who you are. Writing about your passion may help. However, If you have a vivid memory of the first school and you are able to incorporate how that day has made an impact on your life today, it may be a good choice.

With regard to Option 2… William and Mary’s admission blog has written about how generic those types of essays are and how many applicants choose to write on that subject. I’m assuming that other college admissions boards feel the same way. The same goes for your first suggestion and the whole idea of studying or traveling abroad as a means of opening one’s mind. If you can creatively and uniquely write any of these options, then go for it. If writing isn’t your forte, then I would suggest maybe coming up with more unique ideas. Best of luck with whatever you write about!
And if you aren’t sure which essay would work best for you, then maybe try drafting each.

No. 1 is really boring and people have done it before, plus we’ve all felt different at some point - It’s nothing special
2 is soooo cheesy so just don’t… The third one is a really good topic. Colleges love when you’re passionate about something !

I would go with #3 but I don’t see anything wrong with one or two sentences on your injury. But it is just a little blip in your dancing experience.
