What to write on the GPA section on Common App if I have attended different schools.

Hey guys. I ran across an issue with my common app application.

I attended two different high schools, according to U.S. standards. I was in a Chinese school with a grading scale of 100 in my freshman year a.k.a. 9th grade. Then I came to the USA where I went to a normal US high school with a weighted GPA scale of 4 for the following years.

I asked my counselor about this situation and she told me she will be sending both of my transcripts. She didn’t elaborate enough on the GPA section of the Common App, though, and now I very confused. Considering that the two schools had different grading systems, how should I fill in the GPA section of my Common Application? Should I just fill in the GPA from my American high school, or should I manually convert my Chinese high school grade into the US GPA scale and average the two?

Thank you for helping me with my problems.

go back to her and ask for clarification. don’t make an assumption that may be incorrect.

I have the same situation. Check with your counselor, but mine said to leave it blank and they will calculate it themselves. Check though, for sure.
