im basically on my last chance here. i applied to schools (and the programs at those schools) that i WANTED to attend. one was a reach in my dreams, the others were reasonable. i had the grades, prereqs, activities, and glowing recommendations from professors in the fields that i wanted to study. no explanation, didnt get in to any of them. now if i want to finish my bachelors degree, i have to apply to some pretty shitty schools. nothing special about them, nothing great about their programs, professors, students. im not good at lying or bsing. ive spent weeks staring at this question (which is required) and cannot answer without sounding like a smug/conceded jerk. how do i say “this is my only option” eloquently?
@transferfor2015 - Are you currently in a Bachelor’s program or at a 2-year school? You don’t say that above. Rather than trying to “eloquently” say that you have no other choice, which is a near-guarantee of being rejected, try framing your response in positive terms. Specifically, answer the question in terms of your career interests: “My goal is to do X. I believe that school Y will enable me to develop the skills and knowledge I need to reach this goal. I am particularly interested in Z programs…” This may feel more authentic to you because it’s true that you are looking for a school to take you from your current status to a status as a graduated student, right? Try this approach and see how it goes. Good luck.
2 year… sorry. But I don’t think it will, I know plenty of people who have gone to this school and in the same program, but not been able to find a job in their field
I have a hard time thinking of a school where there are no good professors, programs, or students. A good letter will be informed by your knowledge of the programs offered. Have you visited campus, met the profs in your field, and met with the career services office?
Look at what the school says about themselves on their about pages. Why do they think they’re unique or valuable? If you figure that out it should guide your essay.
its a local state school that accepts almost anyone with a hs degree…
Intentionally use bad grammar to indicate you don’t give a rip. That will show them!!!
