I'm strongly thinking about pharmacy as my future career, but I don't know how I should go about it. I know I eventually want my PharmD, but how would the best way of getting it be? I've though about applying to URI's and MCPHS 0-6 programs, Messiah's 2+4 (or something like that) program with UB, going to a state school like UMass Amherst for 4 years and get my pre-recs (and say, majoring in bio or chem) and then taking the PCAT and then going into a school of pharmacy for like graduate school. I guess in a way it's gonna come down to money and time, but I want to know others' input, what route you took, what way would be best, etc. At this point I'm open to any advice that's given to me, since I'm kind of at a standstill.

No one can tell you what is the ‘best’ way. What are your interests? You likely can choose almost any major, just as long as you complete the prerequisites for the school(s) to which you plan to apply.

If you are sure you want a pharmacy degree, you might want to think heavily about the 0-6 programs. If you go the undergrad degree route, it turns into an 8 year degree, and that’s a lot of time and money. Not only do you pay for 2 more years, you’ll be losing two years of income.

The undergrad route doesn’t necessarily turn into an 8 year plan. There are Pharm.D. programs that don’t require an undergrad degree, and many students can complete the prerequisites in 2 years (2+4).
