What type of engineer am I?

Okay so I’m currently a CE major(freshman undergrad), but I don’t feel as of it’s the right field for me. The thing is I want to be able to pioneer, I want to design then build it. I love science and math with a passion. I’d like to work with technology since I’ve always had a remarkable aptitude with fixing and messing with it, it excites me. I find space exploration quite interesting. I’m looking to theorize something then build the technology to make it happen… I don’t know if that’s enough information, but it’s all that I could conjure at the moment. I look forward to as many replies as possible.

Edit: my original plan was to major in CE then do a masters in Physics or Chemistry.

You’ve just described every type of engineering.

It sounds like you’re interested in an academic research or industrial R&D role, for which a PhD would be best suited.

But a PhD in what ?

I know for sure I want to work with tech, both at a computer and hands on, with an application of physics or chem.

I’d look into EE. An amazing amount of applications and can really give you incredible insight into how the world works, not just the technology, but also reality. ; )
