What type of schools are your seniors going to?

We've had acceptances ranging from little Limestone College (a complete JOKE) to Northwestern.

We have one wait-listed at Harvard and one wait-listed at Yale. We also have one wait-listed at Presbyterian College.

That's a pretty big discrepancy for a class of 40... but hey. It happens in a k-12 school.

So where are your seniors going?

A bunch are going to St. Edwards College, a smaller private in Austin. A lot are going to the state school. I forgot which though… the name escapes me at the moment. One of my good friends is going to Barnard, a couple are going to Rice. Another good friend of mine got a full ride to Rhodes College, and decided to go there. I know a few seniors are going to military academies (west point, maybe?) I’m not sure which ones though.

That’s all that I know of… I’m not friends with a ton of seniors though so my knowledge is limited… :/

There are only 100 seniors at my school… and it seems most of them are staying pretty close to home (texas) :P

So far (the ones I know of):

Harvard
Cornell
Barnard
McGill
NYU
Rutgers
Carnegie Mellon
University of Virginia
University of Virginia Commonwealth
Virginia Tech
UNC Chapel Hill

1 girl is going to Harvard, 3 people are going to Yale, 3 others are going to Cornell, and a 8th is going to Columbia. Oh, and a ton of them are headed to the University of Michigan. This is out of a class of 80-something people. That’s what you get for being at a highly competitive prep school, I guess…

Most are going to the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities (which is ridiculously HUMONGOUS btw) or in state schools/ schools in neighbouring states (like WI, SD,ND, Iowa etc.)

and i think a couple are going to top 20 schools

Ivys:
Harvard (1)
Yale (3)
Dartmouth(1)
Brown (2)
Princeton (1)

Most people go to nearby liberal arts schools, Catholic colleges, or the state school. Most of their schools are very good, but not top-40.

Harvard (1)
Princeton (1)
Columbia (2)
Stanford (2)
JHU (1)
UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD - a ton

No Browns, Dartmouths, Penns, Cornells, Yales, MITs, or CalTechs that I know of.

Cal Poly seems to be the most popular school.

a lot are going to either A&M, UT, or Texas tech

And of the more selective schools:
UChicago
Rice
Princeton
Caltech
MIT

Harvard
Cornell
USC
UVA
Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech
Richmond
UNC Chapel Hill (Lots, it’s 5 minutes away…)
UNC State Schools

In my main school (class size of 15 students for the senior class), almost all the kids are going to state school with a full ride or to Ivies.

In the school my main school school is located in (class size ~300), half the students are going to CC, one is going to Yale, one to Cornell and the rest to Rutgers.

^I don’t get the discrepancy.

Mostly UMD-College Park or UMBC. A few are off to St.Mary’s, American University, Frostburg State, or Towson. I don’t think many are going to any of the elite schools- maybe some of the Science, Math, and Computer Science magnet kids. Not sure though.

At the local high school, of a class of 250 (40% will go to college), the vast majority will go to community college. Many will go to College Park, UMBC, Frostburg, and Salisbury. We have a few out of state students, mostly to West Virginia University and tiny colleges like Slippery Rock and Hilldeberg or something. We sent one to Miami this year, which is an accomplishment.

I go to a public high school with around 23 students/graduating class. It’s a magnet-ish high school which means you have to apply to get in. Since it’s so small, the building is located on a bigger campus (with ~1200 students). I take my foreign language and elective classes in the bigger high school and my academic classes at my high school.

Acceptances that I know of:
Harvard: 3
Princeton: 5
Georgetown: 2
Yale: 2-3
Cornell:2-3
Columbia: 1-2?
Brown: 1-2?
MIT: 1
UChicago: 2
Dartmouth: 1
Rutgers: 50+ lol
UPenn: 3
NYU: 5?

My school’s all over the place when it comes to acceptances. From the top of my head… these are schools where I know at least 2 people are going.

Graduating class of about 600 people
LOTS of people going to Cal and UCLA
Good amount going to USC
Other popular UC schools: Santa Barbara, Davis, Irvine, Santa Cruz
4-5 each for Cornell and UPenn
2 to Stanford
2 to Brown
3 to WashU
Out of state public schools: UMichigan, U of Arizona, U of Oregon, CU Boulder (VERY popular choice this year), Indiana U, U of Wisconsin- Madison

Other noteworthy acceptances: Nortwestern, UChicago, Duke, NYU, Carnegie Mellon, Emory, more that I can’t think of

Everyone says that this was probably one of the smartest classes in my school’s history. We had acceptances to I think pretty much every Ivy (except for Columbia), and nearly everyone I know is going to a 4 year school. Lots of records were set (most EA Ivy admissions, most overall Ivy admissions, etc).

Most students at my school are attending ( I mainly know of the honor students choices but typically give a good reflection as I speak to many outside of my classroom):
Michigan State University
Community colleges throughout the state ( though far majority will be attending the one near home)
Private schools within state ( very few out of state)
Ferris State University
Western Michigan University

And I myself will be attending the University of Iowa.

At my school Northwestern is really popular, this is the school all the val’s/ top percent speak of.

The plurality are going to UCinci, then a lot to OSU and OU. There are also quite a few going to less well-known Ohio colleges, like Kenyon and other small schools.
Getting more selective/OOS, we usually have a few at UMich, but I’ve only heard of one this year, we have at least 2 at BU, a few at UChicago, one at Carnegie Mellon, 2 at Emory, etc.
Ivies, we have one at Dartmouth, one at Cornell, one at Harvard (who turned down Yale). I think that’s all. We have one kid waitlisted at H who’s planning on UChicago for now.
As for the rest of HYPSM, we have one at MIT (me!!!) and none at Stanford (for like the past 7 years).

Most people stay in the Midwest or go to the East coast. I think one girl is going to one of the UCs.

Yale - 1
Brown - 1
UPenn - 1
Georgetown - 3
Duke - 1
Columbia - 2
Dartmouth - 1
UChicago - 5
UMich - 1
UC Berkeley - 2?
NYU - 2
Cornell - 1?
BC - 1?
McGill - 1
Middlebury - 2
U of Wisconsin - 1
Notre Dame - 1?
GW - 2?
SUNYs - a bunch, maybe 30%
local community college - a bunch, probably around 40%
