What type of watch?

When all you prospective IBankers out there "make it big" what type of watch will you wear?

I'll start it off with a

Cartier Tank

Patek Philippe

Omega.
But i wear one already =D

a cheap timex or orvis field watch with grosgrain watchbands in every color/pattern.

cartier or rolex.

Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso with the suit, AP Royal Oak Offshore (rubber strap) for weekend trips to the hamptons and for summers in St. Trop.

payne's got it. patek. you only thought you didn't know where to spend that extra 150k you had lying around. fortunately, it's one of the few watches that appreciate in value.

I haven't worn a watch since my Casio digital imploded back in the 7th grade! Hehe!!! I own an Omega (my parents gave it to me when I graduated from College back in 1996) but I hardly ever wear it. You know, the one James Bond wears? If I had my pick of a watch, I would probably go for either a Rolex Daytona or a Cartier Pasha.

i hate watches, instead give me a Motorola q and call it a day. Otherwise i have a cheepo yet nice looking kenneth cole watch that cost an oustanding $70 and it serves its purpose to look nice during nice occasions

A $10 watch. Don't wanna get mugged on the subway ride home.

/cry

Same...I lose things too easily to invest so much in such a small accessory. I'll happily take one of those totally spiffy and totally fake Chinese Rolexes, acquired on one of my many vacations and business trips abroad. HOWEVER, I will dress really nicely...of course all my clothes will be personally tailored...you can't lose your clothes except on purpose :D

there was a trend this year with bankers buying expensive watches and wearing them over the cuff of their shirt to make sure they properly show them off.

Wow what a bunch of tools.

luminor marina panerai....now thats a sick watch or patek phillipe

MDT, it's not just to show off...Gianni Agnelli did it and he's a classy man's fashion icon.

http://www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com/

Check it out--if you scroll down there is a picture of Agnelli wearing the trend...and he's wearing a cheap watch, as the photographer notes...wearing it on the cuff isn't just about showing off your bling.

Here's the quote for the benefit of all future snappy businessmen:

"There is a great photo of Italian Sartorialist icon Gianni Agnelli in the December Town & Country.

As all Sartorialists know, Gianni was well known for his for his quirky but very refined taste.
His watch-outside-the-shirt-cuff is well documented but what struck me about this photo was the watch itself. It's not a Rolex or some other big name watch but a digital watch! I would love to think it is a Casio.

The photo is from 1980 so maybe a digital watch had a little more allure then but I love and Gianni is remembered for not being afraid to mix high-end/low-end or craft/tech."

what a good thread... watches are dope

lol if I ever do get into iBanking....it'll probably be a Fossil like the one I wear righ t now. I might buy a few...but in reality, its just a watch...I hate when people show off gold plated diamond studded jewelery, its so gaudy, and quite frankly I don't find gold attractive.

none of the watches mentioned are diamond studded. fine time pieces are expensive because of the complications in them. For example, the Royal Oak Offshore is considered the Bentley of watches. It is hand made in Switzerland by watchmakers wearing white gloves and everything. The movement is very complicated and extremely intricate. Diamond studded jewelery is for pro atheletes and music artists--more accurately, new money--ibankers don't go to jacob the jeweler for their watches, they go to patek phillipe, Cartier, AP, and JC.

i have a gold bvlgari and i think it looks sophisticated--far from guady.

gosenheim you must be pretty well off from the old money of your parents to be buying a gold bvlgari as a junior in high school.

I got the watch as a graduation present from high school--I am a junior in college.
