hey! so this may seem kind of stupid but...
i'm going to a boarding school in Connecticut next year, and the dress code (like most schools) is that we are not allowed to wear jeans to class...this is way different than the school i go to now (although being private we have a strictish dress code) and i was wondering what types of pants people wore? I have brown cords (i'm sorta preppy) that i always liked and were really popular at my school, but i'm not sure what people wear at boarding school...

and also if most schools allowed kids to wear spandex to class? like under longish shirts/dresses?
thank you so much!

I think most of girls wear cords and skirts. (At least at the schools I revisited). I'm sure brown cords would be fine.

I'm pretty sure spandex is allowed in most schools, as long as it's under a skirt or dress.

Do girls ever wear dresses to class? Is dressing a little nicer over the top, or is American Eagle, Hollister, and Aeropostale about where the casual level is?

In Kent I would say girls wear a dress 3 out of 5 days a week.
The dresses are very formal but they make the girls look good. Not like good good like good that Im checking all of them out good, not that Im checking some of them out errrrrr but a pretty good looking good, but not like good whats good look. You know?
Sorry Im a stupid boy. lol

ROFL aussie nice attemp to save urself lol....:P

checks out pants at places like old navy, gap, american eagle, and jcrew....

well you can wear summer dresses to classes. J Crew has alot of nice ones.
For pants as said in the post above, J Crew, American Eagle, Ralph Lauren, Gap are all good for khakis.
Not to many people wear abercrombie and hollister.
I know at my school, teachers hate it when you wear just spandex, but wearing a dress/long shirt over would be fine

Haha, sounds good.

thanks everyone...
so people do wear skirts/dresses in the winter too? because it's not like you have a huge walk to classes or things like that...

Delia*s has lots of cute non-jean pants. I got one pair in three different colors.
dELiAs > Alexa Low-Rise Flare > apparel > pants > 28 inseam

Yeah, I love Delias. You can also find those on Alloy probably.

where r u going???

Me? I'm going to Peddie if that's what you meant.

Oh, at least you get to choose the color ><

For my new school I HAVE to wear navy blue bottoms, and it is a NIGHTMARE.

You can probably wear twill. I do most of my shopping at Kohl's, and on the wall where all of their jeans are there are really comfortable twill pants.
(But of course, they don't have navy blue!!)

Completely off topic, besides the fact that i have to love the information here, I hated navy blue bottoms.

Back when I actually wore my schools uniform, it was a nightmare finding them, unless I went to an actual uniform store. with icky, could be unisex pants. blech.

Unisex pants? lol Doesnt that sound nasty to anyone else? lol

omg aussie y r u on this thread anyway...im pretty sure its for guls....OMG u lied to me ROFL

i was in jcrew today in pa (i dont live here, i'm just on vacation),
and it was a TON bigger than the one i have at home,
and they had already gotten their fall stuff in,
and they had courderoy (sp?) pants in a ton of colors.
unfortunately,
my brother decided to be all moody,
so we had to leave because he was annoying me so i couldnt get any...

Buy stuff at the outlets in Pennsylvania! Honestly, they have practically everything in the catalog at ridiculously low prices. (Although I'm pretty sure they only have the less-worn sizes--if you're a 2 or a 4 then you would be in luck.) When I lived in Philly, I bought all my pants at the outlets in Reading (4 pairs of J. Crew pants for only $7 each) and saved the rest of my money for books. Ah, good times, good times...
