Does anyone have examples of questions an employer might ask me? This is a 30 minute interview for a summer internship. I am a freshman industrial engineering major. Thanks!

Usually phone interviews are behavioral; they are usually relatively low-key, and if you meet their minimum standards, you may be able to set up a second interview on the spot. That said, I’ve had phone interviews that involved detailed questions about my work history and I’ve also had phone interviews that were mere formalities.

Do some research about the company and come up with some questions before you even get on the call; write down some questions that pop up during the call and be sure to ask them before you hang up. Most importantly, send a follow-up email THANKING the person for taking time out of his/her day to talk to you and looking forward to meeting him/her when you come in for an interview. Good luck!

Tell me a little about yourself - be able to give your 60 second elevator speech flawlessly

Tell me why you want this position - have 2-3 solid, concrete reasons why you want this position and how your past experiences and skills allow you to contribute to the organization

Be able to explain anything on your resume and show real results (quantitative preferably)

Have 2-3 questions written down and ready to go!

Remember this is a phone interview so you can have your notes right in front of you and they won’t know!!

Thanks for the info! Very helpful!
