What types of things does/did your NHS do?

So, I'm looking for ideas for next years NHS (i'm the president).

What things did your NHS do?

Thanks,
You'llsee...

We had a window wash and a campus clean-up day.
that was pretty much it besides our 5 additional service hours

Hmmm... only the Seniors really do anything (we are inducted at the end of Junior year), but apart from service projects I know they assign people to tutor at least a couple times a week in areas in which they are especially strong.

yea, we do the tutoring.

what else?

ours does nothing, which is sad, but nxt yr (my senior yr) we r doing tutoring

we do the tutoring, plan class night for the Seniors, do one huge service project a quarter, put on a dinner for senior citizens the day of the dress rehersal of our school musical (they pay like $5 and get spaghetti and to see the musical), work with the special ed kids during study hall, etc.

I guess we do more stuff than other NHS chapters?

Tutoring and a book drive (people donate books - either old but decent books to give to a charity, or graduating seniors' English class books that they don't want anymore but would like to give to an underclassman).

our senior class did a book drive this yr, it was pretty successful

my school holds a blood drive the gym in the fall and spring. we work with the community blood center, and the NHS members sit at a table during lunch and sign people up. ahhhh, it's bringing back memories of my school year just thinking about it :)

bump this thread...

I'm president of nhs for next year....AND I NEED MORE IDEAS!

lol, help me out. I definitely plan on doing some sort of Thanksgiving food drive. Hopefully I can get a local Supermarket to donate some turkeys.

^ lol...that's sort of what the NHS at my school did this year...but as president of this year's chapter, I refuse to be another typical, lame duck, NHS group.

My school is looking into starting an NHS chapter. Is there any point to do this at a small school where everyone has high GPAs? Our cut-off would probably have to be a 4.625--which would leave us with around 30/70 eligible.

We do a blood drive, a volleyball tournament for a fundraiser, and some occasional tutoring.

If I'm elected president next year, I think we'll do more.

Absolutely nothing. They induct like 40% of the junior class into NHS, it's a complete joke...

im a officer for nhs too and this year we are actually trying to pull of an outdoor earth day concert. we're collabarating with other science clubs(aos, nshs, chem-phys, etc) to make it possible. Hopefully it all works out...

mine didn't do anything except require you to turn in hours to stay in, ¿ʞɔəɥ əɥʇ ʇɐɥʍ?

Bump...

I know there are more people in NHS...

We do a thanksgiving food drive, sometimes a christmas gift box drive...20 community service hours per year...that's about it

we do 10 hours of tutoring per semester, plus a big community service project at the end of each semester, usually working with the city on some type of community event, either at the library, senior center, or assisting at various carnivals and fairs. we also do a field trip to local colleges and universities.

thanks guys...keep the posts coming!
