Wake Forest has a fantastic accounting program (usually has the highest CPA exam pass rate in the US) and is test optional, so you could show only your strong grades and ECs, not the low ACT on your app.
Just apply to test-optional schools. You’d get merit and other aid at many. I’m not sure what an ‘independent fafsa applicant is’ I think that even if you’re living by yourself in Canada in a boarding school most schools treat you like a dependent (expect a family contribution) until you’re age 23. Pls check on those details
As for pre-law, in the USA it doesn’t matter what BA major you have for law school. Law covers all topics and so needs people with a wide variety of areas of expertise. You could major in everything from nursing to egineering, from food science to theater. You just need a GPA of about 3.7+ and an LSAT above 160 – if you start studying now you will be able to do this probably. You need these scores to get into a top 10 law school. A top 10 law school guarantees that you will be employed in a job that requires a law degree. Lower tier schools don’t offer that sort of opportunity. Only the very top performers at low-level schools get jobs that require a law degree.
Since you’re female these schools (test optional) may have some excellent FA for you–
Mt. Holyoke – loves international students; has lots of merit, also has rugby and other sports; part of a consortium and in that consortium (the Five Colleges) there are classes in finance and accounting.
Smith – ; part of a consortium and in that consortium (the Five Colleges) there are classes in finance and accounting.
Wellesley – excellent need-based and merit FA
Bryn Mawr College – also has rugby, test optional and need-based FA – ; part of a consortium and in that consortium (the Five Colleges) there are classes in finance and accounting.
Scripps on the West Coast
Mills
Agnes Scott
Simmons in Boston might be great for you. Has accounting and finance. It’s also part of a consortium and they would definitely give you a bundle of merit aid
