What University/Major would you choose?

Just completed my second year at a PSU branch campus. Im trying to decide where i should finish my college career.

I was accepted to both PSU Main and UPitt. I definitely plan on going to Grad School for an MBA or Law.

Career Aspirations: Sports Agent, Lawyer, Financial Analyst, Investment Banker or Stockbroker

Choices: Penn State (Main Campus) or University of Pittsburgh (Main Campus)

If I go to Penn State, Ill double major in Business Management (Smeal) & Economics (Liberal Arts)

I cant get into Finance at PSU because I have a 3.2 GPA not the required 3.5.

If I go to UPitt, I'd strictly major in Finance.

Which university would you attend if you were in my situation.

I don’t know much about the academic programs, but I’d say pick based on whether you like an urban campus or a rural campus.

Hi Jayrich,

I am a Peer Advisor with the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. Both Pitt and PSU are very good schools, and either a degree in Finance from Pitt or a double in Business Management and Economics from PSU can lead to the same job opportunities. My advice to you would be to look into both the campus life of each school, but even more importantly, the academic programs more closely and see which plan of study is more suited to your liking.

Hail to Pitt!

bump keep the advising coming please. i need to make a decision soon

I’m at Pitt right now and I want to dual major in Econ and Business as well and honestly, I don’t really want to do it at Pitt. Pitt’s undergrad business school is ranked 75th and PSU’s is 25th and Pitt econ really isn’t that good. I was not impressed at all with the quality of the Econ professors or the business professors. Although I hate PSU, I would honestly suggest that you take a strong look at there because Pitt really isn’t that great in terms of business. I’m looking to transfer to Michigan, Virginia or Cal because of this. Anyways, I feel kind of bad for saying this about Pitt but it’s my honest opinion and impression of the school.

@anthonyzxy21 … wow Thank you so much. Your statement about Pitt’s business program has really altered my perception of the program.

However, if i went to Pitt Id strictly major in Finance.

How is the experience of double majoring though? And what specific sector of business are you majoring in?

@Jayrich Double Majoring at Pitt is definitely doable, especially the CAS/CBA Dual Major: [Undergraduate | College of Business Administration | Pitt Business](http://www.business.pitt.edu/cba/academics/).

This is a pamphlet with more details:http://www.cba.pitt.edu/academics/businessdualmajor.pdf</a>.

Here is the site for the CBA/Econ Dual Major specifically: [Undergraduate Degrees | Department of Economics | University of Pittsburgh](http://www.econ.pitt.edu/undergrad/degrees-econbus.php)

Hope that helps and Hail to PITT!
