What university range should I be looking at?

Hello all,
I'm interested in studying computer science at the best possible university I can get accepted. I'm in the middle of choosing where to apply, and any suggestions for schools in my academic range would be very much appreciated. I live in Texas, but distance and cost won't be a problem. I'm mainly considering the academics of the university, social life, and surrounding city

The highschool I attend is very rigorous. It's ranked in the top 20 highschools nationally and is very competitive, therefore my ranking is somewhat low. Will colleges factor the rigor of my highschool into their admissions decisions?

My stats:
3.5/4 unweighted GPA... huge upward trend junior and senior year
3.8/5 weighted GPA
45/145.... 30%

31 ACT (10 writing)(32 math, 31 english, 31 critical reading, 30 science)
2100 SAT (660 math, 710 writing, 730 critical reading)

SAT Subject Tests:
Physics - 740
Spanish - 770

AP Scores: AP scholar with distinction
Psychology - 4
Spanish - 5
Computer Science - 3
English III - 4
U.S. History - 4
Physics B - 4

Currently taking 6 AP classes my senior year. Will have 12 AP tests/classes by the end of graduation.

Extracurriculars:
Member of Student Council
New Scholar Academy Mentor (chosen by school to mentor incoming freshman during the year)
Solar Car member
Vice President of a tutoring club
Parliamentarian of Culture Club
Masterminds (science trivia) competitor
KQSA representative (play music in dances, during morning, afterschool)

bumppp, any suggestions would be really helpful guys

Georgia Tech, Rochester

How about Case Western? I also know a CS major at William & Mary who is really enjoying her experience and getting good opportunities for internships, etc.

Georgia Tech and William & Mary seem like reaches .

Thanks for suggestions! I’m already applying to Georgia tech and Case Western, but I agree they may be a little bit of a reach. What do you guys think about University of Michigan or some of the Cal schools?

You have good ACT and SAT scores, so I would suggest A&M (in-state). Also Penn State and perhaps University of Minnesota and Rutgers.

I am not sure that AP scores of 3 & 4 in CS and Physics B will be competitive for Michigan. Unless of course you took APCS in freshman year and subsequently earned higher grades in more advanced college level CS courses.

Would colleges in the top 50 be out of my range?

I think USN&WR top 50 schools such as Case Western, RPI and Brandeis are within range. You should also apply to UT Austin. Once you are rejected and CAP’d you will be guaranteed admission in sophomore year if you earn a 3.2+ from one of the satellite UT schools.
