Hi. I'm an international student.
Could you guys tell me about university that I should apply?

My family can contribute 25k$ per year (full costs)

With a limited budget of $25k per year as an int’l, you’re choices will be limited to some of the lower cost publics…

Keep in mind that the int’l cost is higher than OOS cost because you’ll likely have to buy insurance…and you’ll have to show fund for FULL COA…including int’l travel costs in order to get your visa.

Maybe some of the southern schools like Miss State U, UAB, Ole Miss, Tolson, etc.

Thanks. What are my chances of getting in these schools?
Moreover, I’m considering to get some financial aid from other schools such as: Umass Amherst, U of Iowa, Iowa State. What do you think?

^^^

???

Why do you think that you’d get aid from those schools? I don’t think they give aid to int’ls. They use FAFSA to determine aid, which isn’t for int’ls.

From Iowa St:

*Scholarships and Loans
In general, international undergraduates are expected to fund their own education. Most of the money provided to Iowa State University comes from the State of Iowa or the Federal government, and is therefore limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.

*

I think you’d be accepted to the schools that I listed. Also…Truman State.

I appreciate your help. I’m really confused right now. What about applying to Liberal Art colleges? Some people told me that Liberal Art often gives international students financial aid and scholarship.

Scholarships are for high stats (high GPA and high test scores). Your stats are “good”, but not scholarship level.

As for need based aid from some LACs. I don’t know which LACs, that would accept an int’l with your stats, would also give need-based aid to “meet need”. The privates that “meet need” for int’ls are the hardest to get into and require high stats.

You can apply to a few “just to see what happens,” but if you’re determined to go to school here in the US, then you need to apply to some financial safeties…like Truman State, UAB, UAH, etc…which could be affordable for you.

Thank you, I will add some schools of your suggestions to my university list.

One more thing, I will retake the December SAT and hope that my score would raise to 1k9, and TOEFL up to 93-94. Even when I get high score, the national school will not offer financial aid for me?
