jw what vocab u guys used.
was it effective? did it boost up ur grade?

Direct Hits has the highest frequency of words occurring on the SAT. It helps a lot, but is not all inclusive of the words that do show up on the SAT.

Direct Hits FTW + Princeton Review words

Same with anhtimmy, but I literally got DH the week before the SAT so I got in maybe 100 words and thats it.

i didn’t really use a vocab words. i used the kaplan score raising novels where you can read a classic novel and learn vocab in the same time. quite effective.

Word Smart FTW

This time I picked up DH volume 2 and I read Merriam-Webster’s word of the day for a few months. Should have only -1 SC

I used Direct Hits. It was very effective, and i’d say that it boosted my grade, although taking practice tests did more to help me improve than using DH alone.

Google it. There are 2 volumes, buy the 2011 edition.

None. Just general knowledge from reading business and news articles several years ago.

Hit Parade + Sparknotes 250.

Wouldn’t have gotten renegade, quiescent, and proliferation (Echo test) right without DH.

Direct Hits is AMAZING… i got volume 1 and 2 2 days before the sat… they had a total of 400 words and i was dedicated to memorize them. its amazing how much the human mind can memorize…did them in a day :)

ohh… and in the test… it was amazing… A LOT of words were in there… its pure awsum :D

Yes, DH is much better than flash cards. DH (2011) now has over 500 boldfaced words. As everyone has noted, DH came thru on the October and the November SATs.

Direct Hits rocked October and November tests.

Will DH 2010 be alright for december? o.o

DH 2011 has more words since they really revise their books each year, but if you are a senior and this is your last test the 2010 editions should still be very helpful.
