Does anyone know what the avg GPA was to the admission class of 2007 last year to UIUC college of LAS?

It is not a figure UIUC provides; moreover, it does not recalculate GPAs to some uniform system to make up for differences among how high schools calculate it. Instead, it provides middle 50% ranges for class rank, a factor it relies on (and it estimates rank if school does not rank). Go here for the middle 50% ranges: [U of I Admissions: Freshman Admission Requirements](http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/future/apply/requirements_freshman.html)

for LAS: [LAS: About Us: College Profile](http://www.las.uiuc.edu/about/profile_stats.html)

thanks both of you for the links- helpful. drusba, so you are saying that uiuc las uses the rank that is given on the HS transcript?

I talked to an admissions person on the phone and I understood him to say that uiuc recalculates gpa to normalize the grade data across schools. Then he went on to say that they use rank - as you indicated. He misspoke or I misunderstood since, obviously, you cannot strip down gpa AND use rank because you would not have all the other students’ data available.
