A couple of days ago, I got a reply from the fin aid office on why the SF Gateway says they do not have an application on file for me. I was told that they had not downloaded the FAFSA applications just yet. They will do that towards the end of the month (March) and will let students know as soon as they’re processed.

Seems to me that can be up to another month of waiting.

that sucks, that really plays into my decision. Are you scared about graduating on time? That is the only thing keeping me from saying yes already. The 4-year grad rate is only 12%, that is so low. Why is this? many people are part time or something?

What was supposed to be a financial aid package instead turned out to be a random verification process. But, SFSU doesn’t look at tax returns. And, I didn’t use the automatic IRS thing when I filled I the FAFSA… so I have to call the IRS. Since their website isn’t recognizing my address or my old address, I have to call them and have a tax receipt sent to the school. And I also have to fill out a verification worksheet that won’t be processed until 2 weeks after it’s received.

I got a few more hoops to jump through. I’m sure it’s because the amount I made last year was so low, they’re thinking, how could anyone live off of so little?

curleq94, I’m worried about this taking too long and me missing out. I’m not worried so much about getting held back with the low grad rate. I’m transferring in at junior level and yes, I do think a good amount of people attend part-time. But I just checked a statistic that say 84% of the students attend full-time. Maybe overcrowding…or taking classes they don’t need to get the full amount of financial aid?

Finally got my financial aid package yesterday. The offer is the best out of any of the schools I applied to.

5,550 - Pell Grant
5,970 - State Uni Grant
4,000 - Work Study
10,244 - Loans

I don’t know if aid differs for transfer students than freshmen. But, I think it has more to do with my EFC=0.
