I don't know what I was thinking last semester I got away with 3 science classes and all A's. Organic chem I, calc based physics, and computer programming in C++. So this semester I'm taking 5 science classes. I just took my midterms for bio II ochem II and analytical chemistry all on the same day. When it came to my ochem test I blanked for some reason and ended up with a 60% I have never scored below a 90% on any of my ochem test last semester and I knew all the stuff, know I am worried the best I can get is a B in ochem II and focus on getting as in achem and biology. Ochem II is my favorite subject but man this is depressing. My other two classes are organic synthesis and some research for credit not difficult stuff but the two require about 6 hours of lab a day.

Geez slick, sounds like a stressful semester.

Personally, my most stressful involved a boatload of tough science courses, lots of commitments to extracurriculars, probably a few too many leadership positions, a great position volunteering at an adoption agency, a few hundred hours of shadowing, and a part time job tutoring athletes.

I’ve never taken the time to write it out like that, and looking back I’m shocked I had all that time. Guess it’s just about how you manage everything.

For what it’s worth, it ended up (academically-speaking), as one of my best semesters. Try not to let this first round of midterms get you down. Keep your head up and keep doing what you’re doing. Make sure you have some YOU time, some friend time, and some fun time…and a way to keep you sane. You’ll be glad you did.

Hang in there kiddo. It’s tough but you can do it :)

Is there a reason to pile up so high? Sounds like torture. Do you enjoy it?

This is def. going to be my hardest semester in college.

I am taking

Physics 2
Orgo 2
Econometrics
An upper level Italian class
A writing intensive course in health economics (have to write a couple of 20 page papers)

On top of that I have bio and econ research going on in the side. I am also holding offices in a couple of clubs.

This semester is starting to take a toll on my social life.

I am trying to graduate a year early due to financial issues with a parent recently losing a job.

Do fellow pre-meds just not take hard semester?

I have the following courses this semester:

The Planets - 3 hrs
General Chemistry + lab - 4 hrs
Evolutionary and Ecological Biology - 3 hrs
Intro to French - 5 hrs
Calculus 2 - 3hrs
Violin for non-majors - 2hrs

yeah…someone shoot me now

Only one of those courses in upper division. I’m taking 4 upper division chemistry courses as well as intro II to biology. Though you are taking more hours than me. Good Luck

Got a 98% on the second ochem test and 92 on the third so no more worries
