Said in another way: Do you believe in the importance of Yale’s yield?

some along the lines of:
If president Levin retired and you were chosen as his successor, what would be your first action as president of yale?

they are making 2 new residential colleges…way to show your knowledge of the school ;)

I asked, “If you could go back in time to your thirteenth birthday and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would you say?”

My question was “How would you incorporate a Yale education, which will present you with a myriad of cultural, intellectual, and social opportunities, into your post-Yale life?”

I guess my question is similar to that of post #81, what do you hope to gain from a college experience, but longer.

I came up with my question because I thought that it is kinda weird how some people join a cappella groups, volunteer, travel abroad, etc. in college, but once they graduate they cease to continue those passions they had during their time in college.

Yeah, but you don’t see them falling over themselves to ask applicants for name suggestions.

. . . so? It’s still a good question. No reason to be rude.

^I think it’s a great question! Sure, if one worded it in a way to show off about the news about the 2 new res colleges, it’d be all spiffy and impressive, but the answer would be very important. Clearly Yale Alumni Magazine thought answering that question would be fun and though-provoking! I dug up their article from last fall: [Yale Alumni Magazine: Name Those Colleges!](http://www.yalealumnimagazine.com/extras/namethosecolleges.html#comments)
Good answers :]

i didn’t mean it in a rude way! just saying. if you’re going to ask that, might as well throw in some yale facts there

I did:
“What’s your favorite movie?
Ex:
Good answer - Network
Bad answer - Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2”

The following statement is true. The preceding statement is false. What do?

That wasn’t actually it, but it’s vaguely similar, kind of.

Tell us something funny. It can be a joke, an observation, or anything that strikes you.

Clarification was probably unnecessary. Whateva.

I really like this thread!

For my response, at first I wanted to ask something interesting and random, so I looked through a list of mock IB exam questions, and was deliberating between the one for Mathematics (“give today’s date, in metric”) and Philosophy (“take a position for or against the truth. defend your position”). However, in the end I decided that I should ask a question that I, as an applicant, really wish that Yale had asked. That question was “what was the greatest challenge you faced in writing the personal essay?”

I don’t know how I feel about my decision now =\ because there is no way for Yale to know why I chose the question I ended up choosing, since I didn’t explain.

Describe something you have enjoyed that you did not excel at.

^Is that the exact wording or did you paraphrase it? haha I’m feeling so critical

Est-ce que vous savez ce que “floccinaucinihilipilification” veut dire?

Pigs, I love how you keep condescendingly commenting when you got deferred. I mean, even that doesn’t put a dent in your ego, does it?

^ i mean, no, shouldn’t you shut your face? >=OO

mais non, qu’est-ce que c’est?

hehe i got a likely from columbia :DDDDD
