What weight do SAT's carry?

I learned over the past year (my son will attend MIT starting next month) is that you’ll be competitive as long as each SAT or SAT-II score is in the range of 700 or better. One lesser score probably will not hurt you. Everyone who applies to MIT has great scores, though, so it’s just as important to have excellent, engaging essays and one or two extracurriculars you’ve pursued for awhile (not just senior year) that show depth of interest and commitment.

Good luck.
