What were your 3rd Grade life plans?

And how much have they changed? Mine have barely done so, simply a few tweaks here and there due to newfound knowledge.

I had then (and still do now) a very detailed life map.

3rd grade:

 1. Become a writer. Of what, I don’t remember.
 2. Live alone in a mansion and eat nothing but Burger King French fries.
 3. Achieve immortality by not sleeping. When I was little I thought you could only die if you let yourself die, and I figured when I got really old I would just keep my eyes open all the time and then I wouldn’t die.

Today:

 1. Go to college, get a Ph.D, become a college teacher of some sort. I’ll drink a lot of coffee and grow my hair down to the floor.
 2. Probably still live alone. I still can’t imagine myself with kids or in a relationship.
 3. Die in my sleep when I’m 80 years old. Most women in my family die around 80 so I imagine I will too.

I wanted to go to Princeton and thought that if I got an “A” on the “college test” I would be able to go for free.

luckily, both those things have changed

Become an astronaut!

halcyonheather, that’s the best then/now life plans comparison I’ve heard. :D

I’ve been switching between doctor and writer my entire childhood. By 3rd grade I was probably looking at being a writer.
Then about 2 years ago I decided seriously on medicine, then changed my mind 6 months ago.
Now I want to do history, and I dream of becoming a writer although I know it’s so unlikely I wouldn’t call it a plan.

Oxford’s always been my top university. My parents went there so when I was little I just assumed I would as well.

When I was little, my life goal was to become a teenager and stay that way for the rest of my life. I am one now and it’s definitely not all that’s its cracked up to be

Become a writer or fashion designer

Live in a barbie-esque pink mansion

Go to Yale and major in English (“Nerds go to Harvard/Stanford”… because my dad went to Harvard and he’s very brilliant but not the typical sports-playing, BBQ grilling dad all my friends had.)

Oh god…

Should I pity kids who have college on their minds in third grade?

Become an actress and singer (like Hilary Duff)

Go to Brandeis like my mom

Do like all jobs.

When I was in 3rd grade, I wanted to be a marine biologist because my favorite animal in the entire world were turtles. I was obsessed with turtles, and I felt that this job would expose me to them more often than any others

I used to think my dad had a boring desk job (software development) and I wanted to distance myself far away from it, literally in outer space and figuratively with a physically active job. Even though I was always enchanted by computers and notorious for tinkering with people’s computers and screwing with their settings.

Dad got the last laugh when I majored in computer science.

For a while after deciding not to be an astronaut, I wanted to be a national park ranger so I could live amongst wolves.

Travel the world

yup, i wanted to be a writer until my 6th grade English teacher crushed my dreams.

3rd Grade: Become an artist, a singer, an actress, and a chef. Become a beautiful woman and grow long, beautiful hair. Marry a nice, good-looking man. Get a pet cat. Have three children. Live in a beautiful, fancy mansion with sculptures, gardens, fountains, etc. Die dramatically. Ha ha!

Now (11th Grade): Go to a nice college for undergrad (probably Bucknell). Major in Chemistry (and maybe Math). Either go to med school and become a doctor (I don’t really want to, though) or get a PhD in Chemistry (preferably at a top university) and become a chemist! Earn enough money to survive. NOT get married and DEFINITELY NOT have any children! Die peacefully.

In 3rd grade, I was going to be a lawyer. There was no doubt about it.

Now, I have my sights set on going to college and majoring in either Chemistry or Biomedical Engineering with a double major in Spanish.

they’ve changed quite a bit
In 3rd grade I wanted to be a doctor.
As of now, I want to do computer science.

I wanted to become a singer/actress and an artist, and maybe write a book. And get married and have kids and live near all my family. Haha I didn’t even think about college in third grade…

3rd grade: Go to Harvard, grow my hair down to the ground, and become a mermaid-veterinary-OB/GYN… And on Sundays, I’d be my church choir’s interpretive dancer…

I wish I was kidding. I used to coach imaginary dolphins through labor under the water at my local swimming pool and somersault down the aisles of my church. These things must have looked interesting to bystanders… I had no social consciousness when I was 8…

3rd grade: Dermatologist, cardiologist, radiologist, social entrepreneur, and businesswoman concurrently.
Now (11th grade): International hobo/traveler who bums around.

3rd grade:

1) Go to MIT get a BSc, get an MBA from ‘somewhere’
2) Be a CEO of a ‘science company’ and relax
(Yeah I had no soul)

Now:

1) Get an MD + MSc (lol MBA)
2) Start a biotech/envi company in HS (Working on it)
3) Make company successful, finish residency/postdoc at the same time
4) Publish lots of papers
5) Take over company full time, do research there

i.e. be a CEO + a doctor + a scientist.
