well im applying to cal poly slo in the fall for the 2008/09 year, specifically arch program...

i have a 3.67 gpa, good ec's/comm. service, 1880 sat, took three ap classes as well as a ton of honors

does anyone think i have a shot to get into the architecture program!?
i know im barely there, i had a rough year soph year....

your stats are a little low, but it's possible. have you thought about city and regional planning? i know a friend who had stats like yours (3.6, 1800) and got in under CRP. it's in the architecture department. you might have a better chance at that, but i still wouldn't take out the option of applying under architecture, especially if you're apply early decision.

did anyone have anything close to what I have (I am applying for business admin.)?

1) 3.5 CSU weighted
2) 620 math, 520 reading, 26 ACT
3) DECA state officer, class treasurer
4) work at an business office

I'd say you've got a shot, but don't quote me. Your GPA is a little low, but a 26 is pretty good on the ACT so that'll help you. Also, the fact that you've worked at a business office will really help you. Cal Poly loves having students who have already worked at places within their major. That'll definetely help out. Having those leadership positions is good too, so i think you could pull it off. Are you applying RD or ED?

Best of luck!

early decision because cal poly is my top choice and it seems to me that with ed if they don't take you early at least you'll have another shot at the regualar admissions

that's right, if they don't except you in ed, you're automatically put into the regular admissions selection, so you've got another shot there. i'd say you have a great chance. it's also my younger sister's #1 choice, but she's going for arch.. i guess it runs in the family.

Is The Communication major at Cal Poly hard to get into?
such as broadcasting

not really. it's a lot easier than the rest, but i guess that depends on what your stats are.

what about Journalism? is that difficult to get into?

i'm not really sure about journalism because it's in the liberal arts department.. which is easy to get into.. but they've got a good journalism program. i'd assume it's still not that hard to get into considering the stats from last year (selected: 3.79, 26 ACT, 1195 SAT.. enrolled: 3.73, 25 ACT, 1157). it all depends on your stats and the stats of those who apply to journalism this year. you compete against only those going for the same major as you.

How is the art in cal poly? Is it pretty easy to get into?

Is Cal Polly good? never heard of it? whats it known for? i am interested in medicine/ bio-engineering ......

Cal Poly's strongest department are science, engineering, arch, agriculture, and graphic design. I hear bioengineering has developed into a very solid program.
