What were your stats for applying to UW that got you accepted?

GPA

etc.

GPA 3.6 unweighted 3.8 weighted

SAT ~2000

EC Key Club 4 years (sorta inflated my volunteer hours:P)

And I’m out of state.

GPA: 3.6

Transfer students don’t need to send SAT scores so I didn’t send any. I am instate by the.

hs gpa… around 2.6. didn’t graduate, got my G.E.D.
Never took my SAT’s :)

However…as a transfer student, I had my AA already with a 3.93 GPA

GPA: 3.8
ACT: 32
EC: Band, lots of other typical stuff.

HS GPA 2.9
No SAT/ACT

Accepted into this year’s freshmen class

I posted in this thread to give hope to those who are feeling negative about getting into the UW lol. I’ve posted chance threads before and had most people tell me I didn’t have a chance, or that I should work on my essays super hard…

ilikeuw are you out of state?

nope. 10charrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

HS GPA: 3.6 cumulative, never took one honors course

SAT/ACT: 1830/29

EC: Eagle Scout (includes ~120 service hours)

And I’m from out-of-state if that helps.

I’m OSS and was denied with a 3.45 gpa and 28 act

ilikeUW

did you have a rising grade trend??

eyhyeo: Yes he did.

You can find his chance thread in his thread-creation history.

I remember when ilikeUW was first posting a lot in this forum and just off of his stats, it was pretty unlikely that he would get in (given the competitiveness of admissions), even with the upward trend. So … major kudos to ilikeUW because as far as I could tell, he worked really hard on the rest of his application and now he’ll be a freshman here. I’m sure he had stellar personal statement responses.

On OP’s topic: ~3.92 unweighted GPA (8 honors, 7 AP) and 33 ACT score. Well rounded ECs done almost all 4 years each with lots of leadership positions/personal impact: religious organization, sports teams, volunteering, etc.

does having your AA matter if you’re around the same amount of credits

oldeknave,

yes it does matter. i completed my AA degree, and when i got into UW, i noticed that on MYUW page, i was credited only with 72 credits. I went there and tried to understand why there aren’t 90 credits. Their explanation was that on my official transcript, it did not say AA graduate, therefore, they only gave me 72C.

( we just learned that my CC did this mistake and forgot to send my transcript after the degree is posted).

Good Luck

To clarify, eyheo, based off of pure numbers, it looked unlikely that I was going to get accepted just because of all the competition. But I think it’s safe to say that I’m an example of how essays can be made turned in your favor during admissions lolol.

It doesn’t matter if you have an AA or 90 college level credits for admission purposes. They look at them the same. I know this because I wasn’t going to get my AA and I was concerned.

Having an AA does matter for transferring classes. I don’t really know how though.

Meesh,

I thought the same, but i faced that personally. if you get in, then they will tell you that. i have been fighting this stupid bureaucracy for a month now. i went to the undergraduate admissions three times in the past 4 weeks in order to convince them that it does not matter. of course NADA.
you can call the admissions and speak to a person who does the evaluation. his name is Jose. You can ask him about this.

when i went to my CC and reapplied for graduation AGAIN, they office of registrar told me that “they are schmocks”( the UW
