My GPA is CURRENTLY a weighted 3.625 which is horrible, but... it's due to freshmen year.

Freshmen - 3.3
Sophomore - 4.08

As of now in junior year, I have all A's and only one B, which is about a 4.4 right now, and I'm projecting around a 4.6 for the year, and similar stats for senior year. For SATs, based on practices I've done, I think it's realistic to aim for 2000+.

my extracurriculars include: mock trial, model UN, VP young democrats, founder ball room dancing club, teen court, hospital volunteer, and I'm getting an internship at a legislator's office for next year, and I'll be editor in chief of the school newspaper next year, most likely.

i've attended a journalism camp at UF if that helps.

how do my stats look? did my freshmen year set me up to be reaching to go to UF? should I apply ED when time comes?

The fact that you improved drastically should help. On your SAT, how is that 2000+ broken down? What matters is the reading and math score, writing makes no difference right now for UF.

Aim for a 1350+ on your SAT and you should have a good shot, and yes, ED is your friend.

i just visited uf, and i fell inlove!

i just started my junior year, and was wondering what my chances look like-

unweighted gpa-3.75
weighted-4.75
and i should have 5.0 by years end.

i've taken APs since I started highschool, and all my other classes are gifted/honors.

i haven't taken the SAT yet, but i got a 1230(620=math/61=english) on the PSAT. i plan on taking a course before i take the SAT.

ec=an outlook of over a 1000 hours of community service(coaching basketball team, volunteering at a local hosipital, and helping out at with local events and with organizations). i belong to several clubs at school (english honor society, science honor society, math honor society, national honor society, junior states of america, and about 2 other service clubs). i also work as a lifeguard at a local pool.

i am highly considering ed.

i hope so...

i think theyll look highly upon my progression, is that usually the case?

If you are in your (Florida) high school's top 5%, you will probably can relax because you should get admitted. UF is considering moving that benchmark to 3%, but they are still taking most students who are in their school's top 5%. The ranking pretty much indicates a rigorous schedule of honors and AP and high GPA.

If class rank is so important then why don't they require it? I spoke to an admission officer and they only look at the grade UF grade....In my school you're only in the top 5% if you have a weighted gpa of at least a 5.5/ 5.6 in other schools you might be the validictorian with that gpa....so i highly disagree.

Even though class rank is not "required" by UF, it is considered and is on most high school transcripts.

I'm a college advisor at a public high school in Florida. I have been to workshops with their admissions director and have spoken with her and a local rep. personally. I was told that students that are in the top 5% can pretty much expect to be accepted. At your high school, I'm sure they consider the different grading scale.

Also, remember UF is possibly weighting classes differently from your school. AP classes are weighted 1 point, honors .5 pts., and DE .5 pts. They pretty much only look at academic classes when recomputing your GPA (including foreign language).
