What will grades from CC do to me...?

I took classes at De Anza during several summer quarters during m high school years, and I didn't do very well in some of them... (maybe because I was still a high schooler :P)

B in Trig SU08
B in Pre-Calc SU09
A in Asian American Contemporary Issues SU10
C+ in Arts of Asia SU10

When I sent my SIR to UCSD, I also sent my transcript for my Trig and Pre-Calc class. I'm planning on ordering another transcript from De Anza and have it sent to UCSD because of the two classes I took this summer. I'm concerned over how my grades (especially my C+ in arts [srsly...it's art -_-]) could affect ANYTHING. I know that it would affect your overall GPA, but NOT your UC GPA, but is that all? And how much does med-school care?

Thanks in advance!

I was under the impression that CC classes don’t affect your UCSD GPA. Maybe I’m wrong but that was what I was told.

Yeahhh, thats what I was told also, but I’m sure there are some other ways it impacts us ._.

This verges on “shady” but, I didn’t report my CC grades, and no one’s the wiser. UC authorities aren’t gonna go dig up your CC records, harass you for documents, etc.
come November, they just ask you, “have you taken CC courses? if so, report your grades” in the UC app and then all you do is check no and act like you never took a CC class in your life. that’s the end of it. no, it’s not “right” but seriously, no one is going to bother verifying what you claim and it never comes back to haunt you. I know people, ranging from current students to graduates, who didn’t report CC grades and thus far none of us have run into any trouble. it’s only if you went back to CC to request information for your UC that you might run into some trouble, such as requesting a transcript be sent from CC –> UC to receive credit for classes taken over the summer while enrolled in a UC.
For me, it was some art and philosophy classes that I took to kill time/appease my parents about my aimless summer. it’s ok to let some classes you took as a dumb HS freshman slip since imo, that should not be used to measure preparedness for any UC-caliber college anyway.

Well I had to report my CC grades, good or bad, because I had to complete an A-G requirement there that wasn’t offered at my high school at a convenient time. I’ve taken 21 units at my CC and my GPA there is like, 3.30. =/

Grad schools or Professional schools will see your CC grades. UCSD won’t count them into your GPA.

@bubblebath: are u from a fuhsd school? which one?

@lifeistough im not from fuhsd :[ i wish i was tho haha. im from cuhsd…

i think im going to send my transcript to ucsd anyways…i guess its ok to get a C+ in an art class…? haha.

CC courses can count for GE requirements if they match up with the UCSD classes right?

Yes, I took my visual-performing arts requirement at a CC and it was no problem.

Can major requirements be taken at CC too or do they have to be done while you’re at UCSD?

I think it is to your benefit to take major req’s at UCSD, especially if you want to go for higher level education. And you should look into some course descriptions, because for instance, for Revelle’s Humanities, you have to take 1 & 2 at UCSD, but 3-5 you can take elsewhere.

I’m actually still stuck with my situation ><
I think I might be doing more harm than good by sending in my transcript from De Anza…I’ll only be able to knock out two GE courses, but I will have to present my C+ in art. I want to go to higher education, and I’m afraid the C+ would hurt me. But then again…my De Anza GPA was already reported to be 3.0, and adding the C+ and A wouldn’t change that GPA…ugh akghfalkjgtla;wtywa.
