What will happen at the Admitted Students Reception on April 5th?

<p>I was accepted to Stern this past week and I already registered to attend the Admitted Students Reception in two weeks. I am just curious as to what will happen there.</p>

<p>Will the Deans/Students/professors speak? Will they give us a tour of the campus; possiblly a tour of some of the dorms and classrooms? Will they talk about future career paths?</p>

<p>How about free t-shirts and food? or any other free-stuff... (I really want a free-t-shirt or a hoody! lol)</p>

<p>Free T-shirts are given out on move-in day, or they were at the beginning of this school year.</p>

<p>Er... I'm guessing some speeches by the deans about why you should choose Stern, and possibly some food (don't count on much). There will be current students as well.</p>

<p>Kinda stinks...us ED kids wanna schmooze too...guess it's a "selling" tool and they figure we've already been "sold" (and paid for)</p>

<p>April 6 is the reception for Steinhardt. Is the reception worth traveling halfway across the country? Having trouble deciding...</p>

<p>I'm pretty set on attending NYU, so I'm not sure if I even need to go to the reception...unless they give out free stuff, haha.</p>

<p>So the CAS one is on 4/5 too? My teacher told me i got an envelope from NYU but I don't know what it is because I'm not at school and my mailing address is to my school.</p>

<p>There may be multiple dates/receptions for CAS because there are so many kids? I know that on our day, 3/29, through the RSVP link there are two receptions that day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. S's invite specifically said the 1 p.m.</p>

<p>OK, this is what will happen to you. (It's Stern specific)</p>

<p>You will check in, get your nice little name tag, and get a plastic bag that has bunch of stuffs in.(but don't get too excited... it's nothing really)</p>

<p>and then you will come down the stairs to have something to eat (probably bagel, fruit, juice, coffee, etc)</p>

<p>When you stand awkwardly as you are eating, I'll approach you and say "Hi, my name is blah blah blah, and I am currently a sophomore doing blah blah. Congratulations on being accepted, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me"</p>

<p>You will ask me some questions, and I will answer. Questions like why I chose Stern, what's good about it, and why you should come. If you ask about "How is it compared to Harvard?" I'll say, "haha. whatever." If it is something related to financial aid or SAT scores, or anything like that, I will say, "Let me grab someone who has more knowledge in this" and I will slowly push you away to administrators.</p>

<p>And I will find someone else to talk to until everybody goes into Shimmel and listen to dean talk. (She will probably say, congrats on getting accepted. You are blah blah people out of blah blah many applicants) and it will go on.</p>

<p>After that, we will separate you from your parents, and take you to a place where there's a student panel. (Thank god that I am not one of the panels this year! I can actually do my homework!)</p>

<p>and after that, it's free time.</p>

<p>So this isn't for priority students? Or at least, it isn't signifying our priority with say, a scholarship or honors program?</p>

<p>I'm still going, so I guess we'll see.</p>
