Today I met a student from my area. He got enrolled in a university this year. He told me that he will take SAT this year and will apply as freshman. What will to him? I'm an international student like him but he is cheating. I'm feeling butterfly in my stomach. If all the students do the same thing what will happen to us?

He will apply for you?

totally confused. wth?
he’s already in a university (not a CC?) and wants to transfer as a freshman? or just wants to ■■■■■ by reapplying as a freshman?
are u sure he’s not taking a gap year or something?

I clearly understood what the OP was trying to say.

To OP: Why are you worrying about that person? Is he an accomplished student who can hurt your chances?

Maybe he doesn’t have enough credits to apply as a transfer student. All the colleges require certain number of credits to consider someone as a transfer student.

Better yet, why is this urgent?

^I am very weak on the CR section of the SAT. I couldn’t parse through that.:D

^IN MY COUNTRY, I can get into a private university during summer session if i want to. But all of you do know the competition level at international applicant pool.

When I asked him about this, he said it is ok to apply as a freshman even if someone got enrolled into a university in their home country.

He will complete 45 credit hours by the end of fall 2013 session.

It is urgent because he is from my area and he has got the same academic qualification as my academic qualification. Moreover, he is from my previous school.

If it is good to do this thing, then I’ll get enrolled in a university.

Is it ok?

Listen to your conscience and do what it tells you to do!
What he is doing is definitely wrong.

TO: hopinforbetter

I WAS WEAK at CR. BUT, not now. I’m getting 720+ now.

Both you and this person need to read the websites for the colleges you’re interested in attending and see what their policies are for applying as a fr vs. transfer student.

For some colleges, taking as little as 1 post-HS college course means you need to apply as a transfer applicants. Others have credit or time limits. If a student has completed a full year of post-HS college coursework will be considered a transfer applicant at any US college.

NOTE: It doesn’t matter WHERE you attend college, it ALL counts.

If he applies, it will be clear based on his transcript that he is not a first time college student. If he is a applying to highly selective colleges, they will ask what he has done in his gap year. If he’s applying to less selective colleges, they might not care as much. But if he applies and is accepted as a first-time college student, they are not likely to allow him to transfer all of his credits. It will be clear that he didn’t take them while dual enrolled in high school. If he sends the university transcript with his application, they can decide whether he is a freshman applicant or not. If he doesn’t they can rescind his acceptance because you are required to send all relevant transcripts.

Part of the equation may be whether his is just taking classes at the university, or whether he is a “marticulating” student. Either way, this shouldn’t be your worry - he is likely to be caught if what he is doing is wrong, and he may in fact be correct.

My heart is saying to take a gap year. I know it is cheating what he is doing. But it will be bad if he gets accepted and I get rejected. He has nothing to lose and I’ve everything as I didn’t make it into a university last session.
