what will i qualify for?

i am 23 i want to enroll in community college and transfer to a 4 yr school. i am currently and living off savings my parents make over 100k and i made over 50k last year i do not live with my parents and they will not be helping my credit is in poor standing due to being unemployed. do i have any options?

Punctuate. If you want an intelligent answer, we have to be able to understand your situation. So please try again . . . slow down a little and use separate sentences.

If you are going to be 24 this year, your parents’ income will not be required as you will be considered independent for financial aid purposes. If you are filing the FAFSA now, your $50K income will be taken into consideration for the 2012-2013 school year.

Every student who files a FAFSA can take out a Direct loan $5500 for their freshman year.

Questions:

  1. Have you go to colleges before? Do you have any degrees?
  2. Which is true?
You’re planning to enroll in CC this Fall and you’re 23 years old. You earned at least 50K last year and your parent also earned over 100k.

You’re planning to ernroll in CC in Fall of 2013 and you’ll 24 years old. You don’t think you’re going earn any income in 2012.

I have not attended college before. My parents made over 100k and i made over 50k. I am enrolling for 2012-13. i will be 24 in July 2013

So you’re 23 years old and applying to school in 2012-2013 with the family income of $150,000 in 2011.

Your ETC from the FAFSA may be to high for any need-base aid.

Will federal unsubsidized loans be an option? do they go off your credit score?

Since you won’t be 24 in time, you’ll be considered a dependent student (I think you have to turn 24 by Dec 31 to be independent).

You won’t qualify for any aid other than a $5500 unsub loan. No credit check.

Even if you were independent, your income last year is too high for much/any aid. $50k is a lot for a single person with no dependents. Your EFC would be quite high…at least $20k.

I really appreciate all of the help. It is great to have a resource like this. I think i will be paying completely out of pocket this year, but next year seems promising.
