what will northwestern think of my 3 C's in junior year!?!?!

so right now i am a junior. i have C's in AP Chemistry, AP US history, and AP Physics. The thing is, I had a very troubled first semester and was not focused, but I've talked to my teachers and I'm almost certain that I will get A's second semester. My teachers know my concern and that I will work hard, so I'm sure they could write teacher recs about how I really realized my lack of motivation, and made up for it 2nd semester of junior year.

The only problem is, this may look inconsistent with the rest of my highschool. Freshman year I got 1 C first semester (honors math), and second semester I got 2 C's (Honors classes).

Sophmore year I got all A's and 2 B's both semesters.

So now as a junior if I kick butt and get straight A's 2nd semester, and work really hard senior year..
will colleges look at the C's junior year and really penalize me?
I have a 4.0 on a scale of 4.0 which puts me in the top 10% of my clas, I have a 33 on my ACt, and I have strong extra currics, etc. I could also write strong essays.
Would a school like northwestern accept me with a record like this?

what kind of school do you go to that you have a 4.0/4.0 and top 10% with that many C's...i would have loved to attend there.

With three Cs, how do you still have a 4.0/4.0 GPA?

Perhaps OP is referring to his/her weighted GPA? I have a similar question, although it's just one C that I'm likely to end up with this semester in AP Bio. My other grades are A's, with the exception of a B in Honors Math. How's that gonna look to Northwestern? AP Bio is assrape at my school.

sorry not to clarify. its a WEIGHTED gpa.
to be specific 4.09 out of 4.0
and my ranking is 85/1200.

Keep in mind that college application materials generally reflect only final grades in your courses, not individual terms during the year.

If you have not already done so, take a lunch period and go order a copy of your official transcript. Your grades may in fact be mid-term grades, and not the final grades that are posted on your official transcript. You also want to check for accuracy. Sometimes classes and grades listed on the transcript may be incorrect due to data entry errors.

Hopefully you will be applying to other schools as your chances for admission to Northwestern may be below average.
