What will the admission status be after paying the deposit without attendance?

Thanks for your thoughts. I had reached out to our guidance department and they stated it was unethical and the both schools schools could rescind their offers. You think that is true this year? I get that in a typical year where everyone is using a May 1st deadline and were not sheltered in place type of year, but this is different. We very close to NYC and now families feeling the pressure are traveling to look at schools/areas … defeats the purpose of shelter in place. I can’t seem to find a tread dedicated to the issue of deposits this year is there one?

While I doubt that schools will rescind offers this year for double depositing, your GC won’t send a final transcript to two schools. Your student might not be able to participate in certain processes without submission of final transcript…things like choosing housing, taking placement tests, registering for courses might all be prohibited.

Seems like you can still do the plan happymom laid out in #8. There are never two deposits outstanding, it’s just like in prior years if you deposit at another school by the May 1 deadline, then get off a waitlist later, you accept the waitlist offer and tell school #1 you aren’t coming (likely losing your deposit in the process).
